Punjab wrestler lifts Akhali- Buttan Dangal title



JAMMU, January 23: Wrestler Chotta Sudham of Hoshiarpur in Delhi lifted

14th Akhali Buttan Dangal title defeating Karan of Indian Railways, who belongs to Jallandhar in Punjab, in a close contest that took place at Village Buttan in Panchyat Akhali-Buttan in district Reasi.

Chotta Sudham was adjudged as best wrestler of the Dangal and presented with a cash prize of RS 60,000  by the Akhali-Buttan Dangal Committee. Runners-up of the main bout, Chotta Sudham got Rs 40,000 from the organisers.

Around 100 wrestlers from J&K, Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana

participated in this Dangal. In total, 50 bouts played in this over Rs 4 lakh event.

The second main bout won by Rashid (Rs 25,000) of Domana Akhara in Jammu, who defeated Chotta Jassa of Badawal (Rs 15,000) in Punjab. In third main bout, Surjit Singh (Rs 20,000) of J&K Police a resident of district Reasi trounced

Bobby (Rs 15,000) of Badawal in Punjab.

The SDM Katra, Deepak Dubey was the chief guest, who presented the cash prizes. He also encouraged the young wrestlers to work hard so as to excel at the National level. Tehsildar Katra, Jatinder Singh and BJP district president Reasi, Rohit Dubey were the guests of honour.

Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council

and president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association presided over the

valedictory function.

Retired Joint Director BOSE, Koushal Kumar; BJP mandal president Katra,

Romesh Chander Sharma; president district Reasi Democratic Azad Party

Surinder Bhagat and ex-Sarpanch, Rattan Singh were among other prominent present.

Members of the organising committee included Ravi Kumar Sharma (president), Rattan Singh (Numberdar), Rajinder Kumar, Baldev Singh, Baldev Raj, Sohan Lal, Mulkh Raj, Banarsi Lal, Govind Ram Sharma Deepak Kumar Sharma, Baig Hussian, Karan Singh, Mohan Singh, Sham Lal, Narrayan Datt, Farooq, Billu Choudhary, Ashok Kumar, Datta Ram, Isher Dass Numberdar, Kuldeep Kumar, Prabhu Numberdar and Pawan Kumar.

The technical penal comprised Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakari), Sat Paul Verma,

Rajinder Kumar Ramotra, Om Parkash Verma, Pawan Kumar, Deepak Wazir and Pawan Kumar.

       

Earlier, Ravi Kumar Sharma welcomed the gathering while Rattan Singh presented vote of thanks.
